Maharashtriyan Thali

India has a variety of food. You will not find such a variety of food in any other country.

In every region of Maharashtra, they have their own specialty. For example rasagulla from  Bengal, Aagra's petha, Gujrat 's Undhiyo.

Maharshtra 's specialty is dishes like:
Puran poli, Modak, Sabudana khichadi, Misal, Malvani, ckp, specialties and a lot of veg as well as non veg food.

In Maharashtra, traditionally food is served on banana leaf. There is a proper way of placing banana leaf. In traditional Maharashtriyan Thali, normally there are 5 sweet dishes called as panchapakvanna, dal rice called as varan bhat, 2 vegetables (mostly colocasia and potato), shira, kher, puran, puri, masale bhat, tomato soup called as saar etc.

Ghee is served last. It is a kind of suggestion that all food items are served now and now you can start eating. Of course, not to mention is that ghee works as appetizer and  helps metabolism.

When food is served, everybody prays God and thanks him for the food. The prayer starts with "vadani kaval gheta...."  and it goes on.

I would like to show you a video, which depicts the positioning of all items in Maharashtrian veg Thali.

Very soon I will upload the video.
